Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm thinking there are going to be a lot of Fujis mentioned.
Maybe Giant (if they make one for $1K).

PedalForce QS3 is a candidate. I purchased the frame and fork as part of their recent group buy for $725.

I'm kind of afraid of buying used.
I'd want a warranty and Trek has some of the best warranty service available.
I'm willing to pay a little more to have that peace of mind.

Trek definitely rocks. I've only heard great things about them from owners.
Of course, they can't please everybody, but whoever bought a Trek
then complained about it made a mistake in buying it in the first place.

I never ever got an answer back from anyone who insinuated that Treks sucked as to "why".
Put up or shut up time wasn't kind to them.

Funny, but some of the same people who dogged Trek but gave props to Giant probably don't even know that Giant makes TCT Treks.
So in their eyes, would that make Trek bikes as great as the Giants they were pushing on me?
Or would that mean that now the Giant bikes that they loved sucked as bad as Trek?

That's too much for that Kestrel. One could get a complete 105 bike for about $500. more.
I think that frame is worth $700.

I wish I could find a Kestrel dealer locally. I'm going to do a search.
They look like awesome bikes, but only the ride will really tell me.

Of the popular names in bikes, I can't think of anything other than that giant tcr something (don't remember the name) for about 1300. Unless you want to buy a bike and sell everything on it.

Edit: I could be wrong.

I thought you already decided on the 3 series Madone or at least that's the vibe you put off in your other post from a few days ago. All the recommendations made in your other post you shot down. Not being an ass or anything but you had a reason or excuse to justify going with the Trek every time a recommendation was made. Just buy the thing and ride already.

I'm talking about just a frameset in this thread.
Do you have any suggestions?

I honestly don't, whenever i shop around or look at bikes i usually look at complete bikes. I've always been told its smarter and more economical to go with a complete bike, can always sell the wheels or groupset if your looking to upgrade either one.

really? I thought 1k was a steal considering they are normally 2100 on ebay (frameset). kestrel lists the rt900sl w/da over 5k. ebay has it @ 3600 bin.

Unfortunately bikesdirect started selling them so now people think they are cheap bikes.

Yeah, I saw them on Jenson just a couple of weeks ago.
Don't know exactly what model it was, but I believe it was an RT900 and it definitely was a 105 bike for $1500.

That was the bike I have, the RT800SL. What's bad is before Jenson started blowing them out the RT800SL retailed for $3,000. Wholesale price was much higher than what Jenson was selling them for.

Honestly LC,
when I saw good quality carbon bikes w/105 going for that cheap,
this is what started to give me the carbon itch.
You got an incredible deal it seems.

I didn't get mine for that price. I got mine for wholesale, which was more than the $1,500. It is still a great bike, especially now that the price dropped.
