There was a nearby Open Streets thing happening, both the boy and the girl wanted wheel around. I brought my bike and Strava'd it, of course; that additional 1.86 miles allowed me to overtake @Dan333SP for the third spot on the podium.

And speaking of Zwift, I must say... riding a trainer every day sucks, full stop. However, it is (for me, at least) a much better workout in a much shorter timeframe. Yesterday's outdoor ride was a metric century for a cancer charity, but a lot of the guys I know from our local race scene joined. I found myself dropping a fair number of dudes who used to crush me in our local training race and hammer rides, and I have to think it's because adding a bit more intensity to my daily rides has increased my fitness versus just riding around for an hour at dawn like I normally did pre-baby.

I agree that if you have motivation and/or discipline, the trainer can be amazing especially for time-crunched cyclists. I am too lazy to train the right way and just use the trainer to maintain my modest fitness level during bad weather/road conditions.

Got a warning from a pretty reasonable cop on the way to work this morning. Stupid induction coil can't see me and the light doesn't go on a timer until 0800. I reluctantly agreed that, yes, in a purely legal sense I should have pushed the walk button. Cop said he has no expectation that cyclists will unclip at stop signs. Nice to know.

Although Pennsylvania is a sometimes backwards state, we finally have a "dead red" law that allows a cyclist or motorcycle to go through a red light if the light does not change for them in a reasonable amount of time. I am pretty sure the motorcyclist lobby got that one through.

Gotta get the girl ready for preschool and I'm trying to decide on whether or not to squeeze in a ride after I drop her off... Legs are still feelin' yesterday's miles, so it'll have to be an easy spin, if I do go... or I could just veg. Decisions, decisions.

Edited to add: a quick peek suggests that there's no dead red law in MD, VA or DC.

Ideally Idaho stop laws would be nationwide, and we could treat all stop lights as stop signs.

Totally understand. If I was fairly certain that I was in the right, I would have felt conflicted - I wouldn't want to push buttons that don't need to be pushed, but at the same time it'd be nice to educate someone that may interact with other cyclists on the regular. If I *knew* that I was correct, it'd be all about how peeved I was at the moment.

Lotsa flash flooding around the valley today, so the morning news is actually interesting for a change.

It's funny - I never would have thought that Idaho would be the pioneering state with something like this.

Vegging, it is. Though I still dropped her off with the bike/trailer and I'll do the same for pick-up, so that's 6 miles with a lead parachute. Also, it's chilly enough this morning for me to wear a Rapha sweater with the hi-viz cuffs popped, so on-lookers will still know that I'm a serious(ly snobby) cyclist.
