Glider was the the house brand of the T.E. Eaton chain of Canadian mail order and department stores. While the brand dates back to 1923, the presence of a Huret Allvit derailleur suggests an early 1970s, boom era model. The era, in conjunction with the TruLite tubing decals suggest the bicycle was contract manufactured in England by Raleigh, If so, we should be able to determine the exact year from the serial number. During this period most Canadian market 5 speeds were city bicycles with upright handlebars, fenders, chain guards, mattress saddles and often, 26" x 1-3/8" wheels. Value is highly dependent on condition and location but in average condition most of these are found as garage sale bicycles with $20 CDN price tags.

Rosskk - I also have an Eaton's bike in my garage and would like to see photos of yours, in spite of the relatively low value of the brand. And, FYI my frame is in very very good condition, I installed new cables, tires and tubes and still couldn't get $75 Canadian for it. I believe that it will venture to the co-op on a one way trip.

A few Glider bikes have come my way, over the years. I rode this roadster for a couple of years, never feeling completely comfortable with it...
And, though I really liked the appearance of this Glider road bike, it was too small for me to ride...

Brian, what you have would appear to be a Raleigh manufactured model based on the distinctive rear dropouts with the fender eyelets located below the axle slot. The top of the seat lug is also a known Raleigh S/N location. Assuming the rear hub is OEM, it should be circa 1969-1970. Looks like a re-badged and slightly downgraded Raleigh Sport. I haven't done any work on Raleigh serial numbers but others have. Try the Retro Raleighs or Headbadge websites.

Iv would agree a lesser Raleigh Nottingham Robin hood series built bike 69-71 based on components these were sold under a dozen or so brand names. This one is actually a near perfect match for a 69 Robin Hood I owned shortly ended up at a bike coop. Nice basic riders but fairly low end utility in nature.
