Best origin indicator is the serial number, which should also tell you the manufacturing date.

All of the PDG* bikes were made in Asia except for the 9c and a run of the R80, according to here: https://waterfordbikes.com/w/culture...bikes-1989-94/
Yours looks like a 1992
Correction: all of the PDG *series*

I didn't know that any of the PDGs were built in Waterford actually, and apparently it was a very small number.
This might help:

The subject frame was manufactured by M-a-t-s-u-s-h-i-t-a of Japan in early 1992. They are best known for their Panasonic brand and are a known Schwinn contractor. Hyphens added to prevent censoring of a certain four letter word near the end of the company name.

Don't sell it short because it's not a Waterford. As I've said on here many times. My PDG Paramount is better than my Waterford one. In fact a month or two ago I sold my 1987 Waterford built one because it didn't wow me. The PDG will stay with me forever.
Your's is a beauty, enjoy it.

Series 5 & 7, Japan with an on-site Schwinn rep. Series 2 & 3, Taiwan.
Series 7 is as nice, easily, as the 2 Waterford-made I've had, an 87, 89, and the 1990 I have now.
Lugwork, filing, paint, all really good. Series 7 650c had an amazing paint scheme.

I was just thinking about marketing. It’s clearly beautiful and near mint (about as close as anything I’ve ever seen that wasn’t NOS), but Waterford helps a sale and this will be sold
