nice hike @mattm. The pics looks a lot like Humboldt (my alma mater), but with a little less pot smoke in the google images

still have pretty bad DOMS from that fixed gear ride on sunday, but with the apocalyptic level rain tomorrow i wanted to get some type of workout in this week before providence this weekend. did some hill repeats and some starts on the cross bike. got another flat on the last practice start which is obnoxious. maybe I should find somewhere to do these where there aren't a bunch of rocks. must have been feeling good though as i napped a whole bunch of strava PRs, which is, of course, all that matters.

When I saw the forecast I bought the new Specialized Submerge, it's the snorkel they developed to work with the new Venge system. Merlin has it on sale for like $400 which is a bargain.

I did the morning ride and got yelled at by the other guy today.

The first guy and I talked and are friends, as 2nd guy was yelling at me I had to ask if it was a planned part of the initiation. Bicycling is funny. Conversation was such, right after I got countered by a guy I know:

(as we ride side by side)
him:"what are you doing?!"
me: "letting him go, I'm tired"
him: "get off the front"
me: "I'm trying, that's why I am over here (like 3 bikes left of the actual front), you have to go through..."

lol. So much fun. After the words, no fewer than 5 separate people told me he is an ******* that yells at everyone. At the stop sign/regroup he wanted to argue more. I called him the wrong name on purpose... I might have to keep doing this ride until it gets too cold for my hands - I love it.

How dare you get tired?!?!

Does this guy actually race or is this where he gets his competitive kicks?

I dunno. I work in customer service and have for like 16 years now. I don't take it personally and I recognize than in 2 weeks this guy too will be my friend. They are just sorting out the social order. It's not for everyone.

I got a fun workout in and I'm done for the day at 8am. That's good.

1hr on zwift, just when my basement was starting to get really comfortable for higher intensity stuff, the temps went up and my joule gps says it's 84-86 degrees down here.

Thinking about picking up a Cycleops PT 300. Training sprints on the trainer has become a pain. Anyone use one of these?

No work this week so I skipped the morning ride and went on the noon ride for the first time in like a year. Had fun. Final steep kicker hurt like hell but I made it with the lead group of 8 and got to sprint for 3rd. Also went for the final sprint and got 3rd cuz I went like 2 seconds late and ran out of road. Oh well. Gotta work on sprinting for next year haha!

Also did a tiny upper body workout yesterday for the first time in a year. Wow I'm a lot weaker than I used to be. Prob keep it up for a few months - wife made the comment that I used to be ripped, so I guess that means I gotta get it back!

Should have brought my SCUBA gear this morning. I have never canceled intervals because of just rain before but I feel an aqua bike might have been more acceptable for this morning.

Rode to work. Gills would probably have been helpful.

Also, I seem to be coming down with something. GREAT.

No ****** idea what I'm doing. Coach mentioned something about 4x30min @ 90% so maybe I'll do that since it'll keep me warm.

Haha, the way it worked out my car needs to be in the shop this whole week so driving wasn't an option and I am quite glad. The traffic is terrible, I honestly should have just realized how bad the weather was going to be and just started trainer season a little early this year.

But riding in the rain is awesome.
