Suntour Symmetric Cable Pull question

Will a Suntour Symmetric downtube shifter pull enough cable to work with an 8 speed cassette?

Hopefully, someone here has tried it and not just talking friction shifting theory.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on your rear derailleur.

Cable pull * Derailleur shift ratio = Cog pitch
