Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Slight mess up with today's ride. I have to drive a fair distance to Fox Creek mtb park and it was pouring with rain getting there thinking it'll be an awesome day riding in the mud, but found it closed to public. There was a xc event happening so drove back to the city for a ride to and along the coast then back to city. I didn't mind just spinning on the flats for a change but would have loved the mud today.

Extended a planned 45 mile ride into 75 miles Friday. Weather was a little cooler and less windy by evening, and I felt pretty good so I just kept going.

Was running late Sunday for all the morning groups, and was passed by a couple going the opposite direction. Instead of trying to do a U-turn and catch 'em, I just did the same routes in reverse for a change of pace for 40 miles. Hot and windy, still mostly summer temps in daytime here. Felt pretty worn out afterward and had a long nap.

Did my usual Sunday AM climb (45kms) at the highest point of the National Park close to where I live.

Total ascent: 700m
Maximum elevation: 350m
Time to climb : 53 minutes (best this year)

I had intended to ride around in Ocala again this weekend, but forgot to bring my jerseys. Damn you old age.

I got a nice Sunday ride to Ventura and around the harbor area. Never get tired of the ride! Joe
73 Degrees F in Ventura and a little head wind , but not bad
