Old Blue is starting to look like a bike again!

This 1967 Schwinn Super Sport has been a bit more of a challenge than my orange ‘73 was. A lot more wear and tear and a fair amount of weathering.
But it is finally coming together. Every moving part had to be rebuilt or replaced, and as a final FU to me, while rebuilding the hubs, the rear axle snapped in half with no pressure on it at all. So that also had to be replaced.
The finishing work will be done this weekend. I’ll post the finished pics then.
PS: many thanks to everyone who gave advice and encouragement on this project.

Vintage Schwinn paint and chrome can really pop when given some TLC. Thanks for bringing this blue beauty back to life!

Thank you guys! I do love this color now that it’s cleaned up and coming back together.
I woke up to the front tube being blown, will have to find out what happened there and put in a new tube.
Before it’s over, I might change its name from Old Blue to The Blue Bastard, or The Blue Heart Attack.
On the fun side, a couple of the last items are coming in the mail today.

Update

Almost there.
I discovered that no new or newer rear derailleur works on this bike due to a design quirk of the forged dropout. So I pulled out the crusty pieces of the original Sprint derailleur, batted them for a few hours, and rebuilt it. Now I’m crossing my fingers that there’s a new guide wheel that will fit the lower shaft/bolt of this old derailleur to replace the broken one. (VATTED, not batted!)
On the plus side, I fitted an old blue Brooks saddle and leather bag.
at this point, it’s as close to its factory original configuration as I can currently get.

Thanks! I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet.
Needing to do the pedals, derailleur wheel, and final adjustments, then do her break-in ride.

Nice bike. By quirk of the forged drop out do you mean it's a huret? I'd like to replace the derailleur on my sports tourer but it's a huret, so, not easy. I might end up using a claw at some point.

Thank you guys!
yes exactly, the Huret dropout has a “stop” that is so far forward that modern generic derailleurs just collapse against the frame with their “stop-pegs” (sorry, not sure what to call them) are positioned near the rear.
I thought about just using a claw as well, but trying to make this bloody dropout work!
I have actually found a handful of Huret and Allvit labeled derailleurs on eBay just in case.

What a beauty! There's a coffee shop in Afton that has a light blue Super Sport of the same vintage, that they use for display. Lovely to see one of these done up and modernised!

Thank you, I appreciate that!
I wonder if the light blue is the Opaque Blue they had in the early 70s?

Update on the update...

Apparently modern guide wheels can not fit this older type derailleur, but I found a supplier on eBay that sells the original wheels NOS, so I ordered one.

PS: I looked awhile for parts for this Sprint derailleur but nothing ever came up. However if I used the key words Huret or Allvit, lots came up in my searches from wheels to cages, to whole derailleurs.
Just for future reference in case anyone else runs into the same issues.
