E-Bike for my 4'10" girlfriend

~$2000
Small size availability, and flat bars are a must.
Mid motor and hydro brakes are priority.
Looking for hybrid, fitness, or urban type. as long as it's somewhat sporty.

Very hilly 30-35 miles is the most we'd ride together.
Torque sensor would be bonus.

I'm hoping her general above general fitness and 100lbs weight means the motor wouldn't be too tasked on the climbs and the battery could last longer.

Any good recommendations? I have searched and found some answers but I'd much rather people who actually ride the bike chip in instead of possibly paid for articles.

I have a Giant LaFree E+1 with the carbon belt drive and IGH. LOVE it! Tackles hills like they aren't there, and the motor is exceptionally smooth with great torque and 5 levels of assist. Battery is rated at 63 miles depending upon assist level used. I'm finding real world mileage to be 54 because I tend to have fun using the Sport+ mode (highest assist) a lot of the time. The Small is the perfect size for me, but... I am 4" taller than your girlfriend, and my bike retails at $2,700 which is over your price range.

Maybe you should look at a folding ebike for a smaller size? Or a kit to install on a bike she currently owns? Or tell us what you've researched and let those owners who have those bikes chime in.

you don't have a location, but the Canyon Roadlite:ON AL 7.0 has smaller wheels (650b) for the smaller sizes and a cool midmotor drivetrain (Fazua motor). I want one. ;-)

Wow this peaks my interest. I'm a fan of canyon bikes. 650b would be awesome for her as well! I wonder if/when it will be available in the US

I was looking at Giant Lafree. She likes those but she was more sold on the looks of some Raleigh models. Doesn't meet ALL requirements but I guess we can't have it all.

I've been riding a VOLT bike for a while now, they're not really well known in America but they're coming up there. It's compact and perfect for a smaller person.

Check out Bike Friday's e-bikes. They are custom fit to the rider. You can spec it out with anything you want on it, too.

Not sure what the plans for the US sales are for this model.

I'm holding out for an aluminum Grail ebike. Drop bars, 40mm+ tires, slick motor intigration, Canyon quality and pricing. My 6 year old homebrew ebike is similar to that (just with 32mm tires) - but this would be a nice improvement!

I did convert a bike for a woman about your wife's size (based off a small bianchi mountain bike), so that is potentially and option if you get stuck.
