Mossberg Viking Medalist

Found this the other day and wondering on who made it. I know Mossbergs were BMA/6 made for them. this one is not that. Need to check the serial number, that might help. I think it is made in Japan Date codes say 1973

I see an SR Royal stem and seatpost, Super Champion rims, Dura Ace brakes, crank, and derailleurs (Crane rear). Looks like a top end model.

It is top of the line, Durace headset too. missing one of the hand brakes. The Ad says Champion tubing, has to be made in Japan and sold by Mossberg.

Head emblem resembles Kabuki.

Right brake lever a replacement - this usually means crash so you would want to inspect for any collision damage.

Upper and lower headset stacks do not match.

Cool bike and ad.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the 27 by 15/16 sew ups to "reduce tire friction" (this is from the ad).

Thread made me Google. I had no idea Mossberg ventured into cycles. One of my first guns was a Mossberg .22.

Seat stay caps and head lugs are reminiscent of Tano manufactured Centurion but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. This may not have been the top model, depending on the actual year. Circa 1974 Mossberg introduced one of the first carbon-fibre framesets
