My Dad, who is 85 and going strong and still married to my Mom, always says you can never be friends with your ex. Ironically, my ex friended me on FB a few months ago but it's been so long (20 years) and we're 3,000 miles away from each other, that I figured no harm could come of it. But as a rule, I wouldn't friend an recent ex. My husband isn't on FB and frankly, I'm happy about that. Not that I'm trolling for dates or anything (hardly) but I like having a place to hang out without having him know every crazy thing I say or post.

If you have a relationship still why not...you can always "un-friend".

It's been almost 20 years and there's still no chance in ....

Besides, I haven't seen any whales of FB.

I don't have an ex, but I'd say no. Or I'd set up an alternate account just to be friends with her and the kids.

No way. She has grown old and ugly, besides still being obnoxious. I, on the other hand, have grown old and ugly, but two or three people think I'm fairly nice.

My ex-wife is the mother of my kids, so yes. We've been divorced well over 20 years, so whatever angst should have dissipated. But it's unlikely to happen -- I don't frequent FB, and we don't have the same interests.

As far as the ex-girlfriends, probably not. Those flames went out a long ago.

I am happy with whom I have now.

Machka still chats with several people with whom she had relationships before us. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I've been married for 25 years, so no ex, but I recently tried to be friends with a woman I knew in college. The old issues never completely go away.

Friend an ex? It depends.

Speaking of facebook, anyone been inside their headquarters? They're really good people. I did not meet Mr Zuckerburg but saw him walking around talking to others, wearing his corporate attire----blue jeans and a hoodie. After he finished his discussion he plopped down amidst a group of others and started doing some coding. I look for them to continue to grow for a while. Their "sticky paper ball" that is made from visitors name tags is getting pretty big, too!

+1 My ex will always be in my life because of our daughter. The better we get along, the easier it is for her.

As for ex-boyfriends, I'm still friends with some but not others. I wouldn't accept a friend request from someone I didn't care to keep in contact with.

I did. She sent a request and I accepted. We don't interact much, online or otherwise. It has been 21 years since we divorced and the hostility has faded. Mostly I look when she posts pictures of our son.

Well, no kids.

My biggest hesitation is that I'm "friends" with other women. Might be a bit embarrassing having her able to tune into this.

Well, first of all, this coming September is my 25th wedding annirversary. However, before my marriage to my 2nd wife, I got a divorse with my first wife. In time, the pain and anger left me and I realized that my ex was the mother of 2 of my 3 children. Furthermore, my ex became the grandma of my grandson this last February. So yes, we became Facebook friends and share photos and quite a bit of other common tidbits. That is all.
