I can help with the old SRM. his version is like 9 years newer. running the SRMwin software is the best way to set the thing up, but you need to run it in weendoze.

Yeah. No windows yet. Can I set the time/date and get up and running without DLing anything for the time being and being on a mac?

Had fun doing the "ask the experts" thing on VN this morning. We do it again Friday. Some of the guys here are absolute libraries of race info.

on the old wireless version V you get into the setup mode by pressing all three buttons at once. you have to page through the various places to set it up.
once finished, just wait for it to time-out back to normal mode. if you press the three-buttons again it will reset the memory and then you are kinda screwed until you recharge it again.
(this may be different on PC-VII)

I should mention that there is no way to erase the recorded data on the PC-V unless you hook it up to a computer. maybe they have changed this on the PC-VII

Okay..now you have to pair the PC7 to your speed sensor and HR sensor. This is easy there is a step by step in the manual that will explain it. If you don't have a manual go here to download one. Or you can watch the video here.
Pairing is easy..like how you pair a bluetooth headset to a phone. After that you can start recording workouts. Once you get the software into Windoze you can set your zones and the time etc.

I don't use bluetooth either, though I suspect the shop did the pairing stuff as I register speed. I turned 9 watts up my street so that seemed kind of off.

right. I don't have windows. Not likely to anytime soon either. My understanding was that this functions with golden cheetah.

Check these as well:
SENSOR PAIRING
The PowerControl needs to be paired with the PowerMeter, Speed
Sensor and Heartrate strap. The PowerControl will not receive data
until it is paired. Pairing the sensors with the PowerControl is only
possible if the sensors are switched on.
1. Switch on the PowerMeter by pedaling the crank forwards a few
times (it will switch on when the reed switch in thePowerMeter
passes the cadence magnet mounted under the bottom bracket).
2. Switch on the speed sensor by spinning the wheel.
3. Switch on heartrate sensor by putting the belt on your chest.
Please moisten the electrodes to improve contact.
4. Switch on the PowerControl by pressing the MODE button.
Hold PRO for about 3 seconds to
enter Sensor Pairing Mode.
You are now in PowerMeter
Pairing Mode.
SETTING THE ZERO OFFSET
It is important to use the SRM Training System with a correct zero
offset, if not the measured power
may be wrong. The zero offset can
be set manually or automatically
(by default). Turn the crank forward
to switch on the PowerMeter. Make
sure there is no force on the crank.
Press MODE and SET at the same
time to enter the zero offset mode.
The screen shows the real-time zero offset value on the middle line.
The bottom line shows the previously stored zero offset. After the top
number stabilizes, press SET to store the new zero offset. If it remains
zero, the PowerControl is not receiving any signal from the Power-
Meter. Make sure the PowerMeter is turned on and paired correctly
SETUP MENU
Hold SET for about 3 seconds to enter the Setup mode. The first
screen shows the setup menu to change the time and date.
The blinking digit can be changed
(seconds, minutes, hours, day,
month, year). Press PRO (+) to
increase or SET (-) to decrease
the shown digit. Press MODE to
proceed to the next digit until
year.
After the last digit (year) the next screen shows the manual setup
menu for the slope which is a unique value for each PowerMeter.
“Aut” tells the PowerControl to
pick up the slope automatically
from the PowerMeter.
Press PRO or SET during this
screen to manually enter a slope
between 15.0 and 50.0 Hz/Nm.
To set the slope to ”Aut” go to 15.0 and hit SET (-) or go to 50.0 and
hit PRO (+) once.
All of this can be found in your manual starting page 15. I just installed one of these on my buddie's Orca and it took about 15min to get him on the road.
