I ordered a $4 key ring from banggood, and five weeks later, this pair of "tools" arrived instead. I have no idea what they are. I knowingly take a risk when I order directly from Asia. I might ask them to make good on the deal, or I might just shrug it off.

Now all you need is a 1/20th scale 1979 F350 hooker tow truck, and a 1/20th scale folding-door phone booth to call for it.....

Nothing exciting or photo-worthy, just a set of chains from @deux jambes , via a C&V Sales thread. Remarkable that it made it, however. Package went into limbo per Uncle Sam, it just kept saying it was "moving through the USPS network" (still says that now). Wife calls me at work yesterday, there's a plastic bag in the mailbox with a sopping wet USPS box. She can just make out our address, and the "from" city. Yeah, that's the chains. I get home, put on a pair of nitrile gloves, dig into it, and the box smells of some vague watered-down chemical. Fortunately, he wrapped the chains in TIGHT plastic, INSIDE the box, so they were totally unscathed. But whiskey tango, did they drag the box across the Mississippi River on the way here? 'Course, no way for the carrier to scan to indicate delivery, so it's still hanging out there.

Tonight one of the chains is going on a '90-ish Schwinn Impact Pro MOS I bought, well-used and weary, from the original owner; been gradually waking it back up, and this will complete the process.

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing hiccups wit USPS.

Two recent incoming packages were finally delivered after problems. And one more is late with no tracking updates in the last 24 hrs. Wouldn’t bother me so much if it wasn’t the very last item needed for a bike build in progress.

Anyhow, these gum hoods which must have been kept in a time capsule were delivered from Belgium today, so I can’t complain too much...

And here it is! After 7 months of collecting parts for a very specific bike build, I can finally say that as long as the bottom bracket spindle gives a proper chainline then this decaluer is the very last component needed.





I wouldn’t mind fresh decals for the rims, and crank arms, but I’ll consider those “wants” as opposed to “needs.” And those can come much later. No problem. So I think I can safely tear the shopping list up now. Let the good times roll... !

Anyways, here is some of what has come recently:



A sheet of 1/8" thick 3003 aluminum for a secret project, a set of button-head M8 bolts, a combo 5mm/6mm wrench to save a few grams and a little space in my toolkit, and my first dyno-powered tail light, a B&M TopLight Line Small with a neat little plastic bracket that clips into the saddle rails. Pretty stoked to try that last one out.

Nice! I'm curious to hear how well the light works for you. It seems small enough that it might be a pretty good fit for some smaller vintage tail light modding.

Does the sheet of aluminum require a lasercutter?

I haven't tried it out on the road yet, but it lights up nicely in my basement with the lights off when I spin the front wheel. I'm using zip ties to route the wiring under the downtube and behind the seat tube for now, daydreaming about routing the wiring internally for a cleaner look.

Also, a laser cutter would be cool, but I'll have to make do with hacksaws and Dremel cutoff wheels for now.

I ordered some Schwalbe tubes way back on 7/28. I think they must have gotten lost as the expected delivery date came and went. It's a good thing that they are great tubes.
