Battaglin with Campag components from 90's

I'm about to buy this bike of my national second-hand market and I wonder if anyone knows more about the brand "Battaglin". The bike is being sold in sweden and from the research I have done it seems to be from the late 90's (it has campagnolo zonda 16r wheels). Was Battaglin a good brand? The frame appears to be high end with columbus steel and internal cable routing. Was the wheel set high end? Is the bike worth the equivalent to 210 dollars?
i'm not yet allowed to post photos or links so i'll do my best to describe it. The frame is yellow with blue decals all saying Battaglin in blue. The rear brake cable enters the top tube near the headset and exits near the seatpost. It has 8-speed campagnolo mirage. black '7' type itm stem and aparently matching black handlebar.
Please if you're familiar with what this model could be do say!
Thank you

A Columbus steel Battaglin is certainly worth $210 US dollars, will shipping be involved? If you have some good pics you can email them to me and I'll post them. BianchiGirLL@yahoo.com

Were the Battaglins from that period Billato-built?

I rode a Battaglin years ago and it was a good, fast bike in the Italian tradition, handled great.

The Mirage group is lower end Campagnolo. The Zonda wheels alone are worth $200+ if in good condition, no dents. Battaglin is a quality brand.

Luckily the guy selling lives right next to me so no shipping involved!

Probably a decent model if it has internal cable routing.

my mid-80s Battaglin is a great bike.

Campagnolo Mirage with 8 speed and single pivot caliper would place it 1995-1997, while the decal style on the Zonda 16R wheelset narrows it down to 1996, assuming everything is OEM. I can't identity the Columbus tubeset decal from the photo but given the era and Mirage, the most likely candidate is Thron, Still, I don't recall it being TIG welded, so the tubing may be something slightly newer and upscale, such as Genius. During this era, Mirage equipped Thron bicycles from Italian manufacturers typically had an MSRP of ~$1500-$1750 US. $210 is a great deal, provided it fits and there are no major issues.

Battaglin is the brand of Giovanni Battaglin, an Italian pro cyclist who won both the Vuelta a Espana and Giro d'Italia in 1981, riding Pinarello for the Inoxpran team. To capitalize on this success he immediately started his own bicycle company, with Inoxpran switching to Battaglin branded bicycles for the 1982 season. The brand's popularity increased in 1987 when Stephen Roche won cycling's Triple Crown (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and World Championship) riding a Battaglin. I've seen Battaglin from this latter era that were Billato product but I can't comment on the mid-1990s models. Regardless, they are a well respected brand, even if they are not widely known as brands such as Colnago or Pinarello.

There was definitely some well-known contractor building for Battaglin, but they are not exactly a known-known...If you know what I mean! Could well be Billato for at least some of the long run, given that both Battaglin and Billato are located in the Veneto region of Italy.

Steven Roche rode a Battaglin in 1987 en route to his historic Triple Crown.

Of course His Battaglin was a custom made model,I dont recall Battaglin making low end model bikes so check the tubing sticker to find out what you have.

In 1988, a model was produced to capitalize on Roche's trifecta. The group, I added.

Well the pictures don't seem to match the description. Velocity rims and Daytona/Centaur 10 speed. I don't think Mirage ever had the shift paddle cutout either. Odd mix since Daytona and Centaur are the same tier but different years. It's possible it started life as a Daytona 2x and ended up a Centaur mix 3x10 or 3x9. If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if the tubing is something like SL/SLX. Daytona/Centaur was under Chorus.

That's just the group I put on it. Rear spacing is 126.
I should have noted I generally put whatever components I have on the frames....
This one came to me with tri-color on it.

Not even close. The Roche replica models models were blue, white and red, to match the Carrera team colours, though the blue was several shades lighter than that used on the jerseys. Besides the colours, the fade pattern was also different with blue in the head tube and seat cluster region and red in the bottom bracket region. The down tube decal were blue, while the seat tube decals were red.
