when my wife and I go camping we use a very light double inflatable mattress with a blanket. Found it`s a lot lighter and more comfortable than having 2 seperate sleeping bags.

14lbs in just tent and sleep pad? Holy Crap. No thank you! My tent is a two person with plenty of room, two vestibules, 28' floor space, and I can sit up just fine in it. It weighs ~3lbs total. My sleep pad is around a pound too. So basically I'm at ~4lbs with what I consider to be a completely comfortable setup. But if you wanted a larger sleep pad, something like an Alps Mountaineering sleep pad might do the trick. It's giant and still under 3lbs.

After ~3" you'll be fully supported off of the ground, though, so any more pad than that is just extra weight and bulk. I also don't think there are insulated pads that big except the self inflating. Those don't pack down to a very practical size. The hollow big pads also leave a cool feeling in all but warm night weather. I just really couldn't possibly see any point in a massive pad for outdoor sleeping.
