Is this worth the 1 hour drive?
I have to admit that I like Peugeots. That being said I do have my fair share of winter projects but I came upon this CL posting. Is the seller way off base with the price and is this even worth a morning trip. I really cannot ID the Peugeots from he photos other than the white one may be a late 70's U08. The black one I cannot tell. The Panasonic is lower end and looks to be a larger size. I am 5'10".

Yeh already gone... On another note that Opaque blue Schwinn Super Sport with the mismatched fork is still listed in Fort Lee. I mean I am still wondering about it. I know the fork is a mismatch but from what I can see the frame doesn't look damaged. Is it worth a closer look or just pass and wait as you suggested earlier?

I am sorry Greg, I grabbed the bikes for $150, the owner was very nice actually, it was worth the one hour drive for me. The black Peugeot is nice, Shimano 600 arabesque and nice Rigida alloys, white is also nice with a cottered crank, and the Panasonic has a Shimano 600 rear derailleur. I am going to buy some new slicks, clean these up and most likely sell two of them for $150+ each.

Thanks Bill. I am still trying to learn how to navigate this process and to be honest I do have a few projects that I am currently working on so it isn't too bad either. My collection is diversifying and at the same time I have sold off two of my restorations that I didn't really "feel" in the end. While I am talking about diversifying I do want a NIshiki to add to my Fuji Del Rey and Miyata Gran Touring. Do you think that this is worth it?

Thanks oddjob. Those Motos look pretty nice. They seem like a good deal. The Fuji is actually in nice shape but that color is just off putting for me. It is nice to see other NYC area members on here looking out! Let me know if anyone ever needs a facilitator in the Bronx, Westchester, Northern Manhattan area and I will be happy to help.

Thanks a lot. How are you able to determine the size of the frames so easily? I know this comes with experience and I can tell the VERY large 25" frames but from a photo is it difficult for me to discern the dimensions.

Such knowledge came to me in an epiphany about 200 bikes ago!
Look at the steerer tube. Then look at the height of the seat triangle relative to the top of the tire. On a small 48cm frame, at the steerer tube, the top tube and down tube almost touch. Then for every inch or so of steerer tube, the frame size increases about 2 cm.

Head tube. Look at a few dozen of pics on the forum, and you will know how to do it.
You have to decide how much you want a bike(s), how hard you are going to look, and how far you are willing to drive. Myself, an hour drive is just about a minimum, I live in Hooterwille, so I am not going to find bikes locally. My driving decisions are usually more about 3 hours. Is it a good enough deal to drive 3 hours one way? Obviously has to be something special, or a smoking hot deal for it to make any sense.
