The best places for a self supported tour
I would like to introduce www.wheretocycle.com and extend a special
invitation to share a little bit of your wisdom collected along the
road.
Think of the places that you have toured and about the useful
information you have learned. Know a great place for lunch somewhere
along one of your past trips? Know someplace quiet to camp for the
night? Which places are the best for self-supported touring?
We have all shared some insights with fellow cyclists we have passed
on the road and we have all benefitted from this information.
On www.wheretocycle.com you can:
* Add links to your travelogues.
* Rate places you have toured.
* Share photos and comments about places you have cycled and ask
questions about those places.
* Quickly review a place you have taken a tour.
* Rate locations and get personalized recommendations using
collaborative filtering.
* Subscribe to RSS feeds and keep up to date with location specific
touring information.
Please don't hesitate to have a look around and contribute. I would
sincerely appreciate any feedback your might have.

Sounds great.
I'd like to add that hearing about any negative experiences at restaurants, geographical areas, hostels, motels, bike shops, and all the rest would be very helpful.
For example, on the TransAm in VA, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the kindness and politeness of Virginians--except in one area (around Catawba, I think). First, a cement trucker purposely pushed me slowly off the road. A few miles ahead the people at a local grocery/deli were so damn rude it was unbelievable. They treated me this way twice on two separate tours. Later on, someone warned me about that area, but of course I already knew.
Anyway, let the negative stuff be known as well as the positive.
Thanks,
David in FL

Thanks for your comments
Thanks to both of your for your comments and interest. I agree about adding the warnings, the places to avoid are just as important as the places to visit.
