Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pretty close, it was grey though, and he wasn't as fuzzy as your example, but panting just the same.

It is remarkable how much you can process in a short time, and I probably pay more attention than I should. I need to perfect my snobbie roadie attitude and ignore all other people.

Why is it that guys get so bent out of shape when another guys "cruises" them? Women just expect unwanted advances and go on with their lives. Men make such a big deal out of it.

+1

I know what women are subjected to (or is that, "I know what to which women are subjected."?), so I don't even say anything more than a "Hi". But, since it's so rare that it comes my direction, I'll accept any cruising that I get, even if I have to turn it down.

I'm not sure where I indicated that I was "bent out shape". I've ridden about 3500 miles this year and this was the first time this happened. I thought it was funny, and something other cyclists could understand.

Non-cyclists don't understand the subtitles of roadie behavior, heck lots of cyclists don't either, and while a normal Minneapolis airport bathroom encounter is normal for most people from Utah, I think it is a little more unusual on a chip and seal Kansas road at 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning. It was something a little off the ordinary.

This thread reminds me of the "should I let me wife buy me the super nice group" thread. Seems like most of the men are on the same page, and then the woman arrives with the voice of wisdom.

And here I am bumping a completely worthless thread by responding.

Sounds a bit homophobic if you ask me. Perhaps you should be worried; a new study shows that same sex couples are migrating to the Heartland at a high rate

people ride bikes in kansas? I grew up there, went to KU, and then moved to california where I fell in love with riding. yes, kansas is as flat as you think. I know there are some rollers on the highway, and good ole' mt. sunflower and whatnot, but it's nothing like riding around here.

sounds like you should stay in KS. wal-mart and mc-d's FTW.

Oh I agree, California wouldn't want me out there either. I'm not even close to being hip enough.

A girl I used to date once said, "Why do men (even the pudgy, homely ones) always assume that everyone wants to have sex with them?" I argued that we are not all like that; but apparently her conclusion is not that preposterous.
I've never been attracted to wang, but if I found myself stranded in Kansas for a day, I probably wouldn't be able to resist freaking out the normals there.

Men do not honestly believe that every woman and/or man wants to have sex with them. Explain to your friend that we have to act as such, or else no one would ever be convinced enough to go through with the deed.

As for the possibility of being "cruised" by a man, take it as a compliment. Honestly, how often does a woman do it to you? AND IF YOU SAY "OFTEN" I WILL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE AND RUB WHAT'S LEFT OF IT INTO THE SIDEWALK. ...no...i'm not competitive...

I didn't even know that Senator Craig rode a bike never mind posted in BF!

It just seems wherever you go- they are after you. It's okay, we all know it's not your fault.

I do hope you don't get drummed out of the GOP over this little incident.
