Rock Creek Park, D.C.
New to DC and often use the paths through Rock Creek Park to get from one part of the city to another. A few weeks ago when that hurricane hit the South and we got a lot of residual rain it flooded the river and buried large portions of the path to Georgetown under heaps of sand. It’s currently impassable for my road bike tires. Any Washingtonians familiar with this? Do you know if they come by and clear the sand at any point or if the rains will wash it away?

They generally do clean up that section within a week or two of flooding but since the flooding was so bad that Beach Drive to the north is still closed south of Pierce Mill, they have focused resources on getting the road reopened first - I heard on the radio in might be until early October. They generally don't list trail issues below full closure, but Beach Drive closures will show up here.
I've had mixed success over the years doing this, but you can call the Park Service at (202) 895-6000 to tell them of a section needing maintenance or fill out a contact form here.
That sand filled section is pretty short in most cases, but this was epic level flooding!

Wow, I didn't realize this happened down there. I live near Ellicott City/Catonsville and we have had our share of this type of storm. We once lost a creek crossing in Patapsco during the recent deluge(s). Please post when all is cleaned, I was hoping to do a fall ride down there.
