I miss vacuuming the Cheetos off the floor.

Bikes: My mountain bike after 22 years is retired, and I am now using a touring bike, and I still have my folding bike.

Been car free for 6 years.
I don't remember giving up too much. I suppose a car is convienent, but incredibly expensive and destructive to the environment. We still use public transportation, but for daily life I use my bike for everything.

Since my car corroded to death and was sold for scrap recently, there are two things I must give up on.
- Taking my bike to the bike shop and leaving it till they can get to it.
- Filling up the gas can when I go to fill up the car.

I can't really think of a beloved activity. I do rent a car when my bike or the bus do not meet the need, and this is a rare occurrence, but it does happen. Even if I was not environmentally conscious, I would not own a car again. The amount of money that I save is incredible. I could never justify owning a car again no matter how I look at it

Over the past four decades I've despised cars more and more for all the obvious reasons. I currently own two just because I brought them with me from suburbia and one of my kids still lives with us as he finishes college ( he didn't ever want to drive and didn't get his license until he was 19). The cars will die a slow death just because I don't like to waist things. I've often thought about how'd I'd get along without the cars once they are gone. Due to the fact I will still be able to rent a vehicle for a variety of purposes, I can't think of any reason to own one.

For us it was Volksmarching, if the march was close enough to walk or catch a city bus to then we tried it but it didn't work out well. Lot's of great places to walk/hike in CO. but without a car a lot of the events we weren't able to get to so we gave it up. At the moment we do have a 30 year old Ford Ranger on it's last legs when it dies, now being on a SS fixed income, we will again be Car Free. The last time spanned 10 years.
