Great pictures. Makes my rides in the Dallas suburbs look very boring. What all are you taking in your trailer?

September goal is a bit squishy. Would love to make 500 miles, but life is plotting to make it hard...dental appointment, PCP appointment, getting a rack mounted on truck, camping trip. Will aim for at least 400 miles, and unless I get scuppered by weather, should make it.

1-Sep: 44.4 miles
3-Sep: 44.4 miles
6-Sep: 31.8 miles

It's a start.

Goal for Sept: 700 miles

8/02 - 32 miles
8/04 - 48
8/06 - 48

MTD 128 miles

A little beat up from hard manual work most of the AM, but made it out for a good, strong ride on one of the nicest days in recent memory. Low humidity, brilliant sunshine, gorgeous mountains, and a fast bike (the Defy). My new Domane ships out from the factory this Wednesday......,,,,,,

Thanks. Anything from just a spare battery and some toys to enjoy the day to enough for long-duration self-supported rides.
Spare battery - 58.8V 30+Ah, 17 lbs.
300W folding solar panel, 17 lbs.
Tent poles

Tent
Hiking poles
Chair
Water filter
Food, water, beer.
Pressurized Shower
Solar Oven
you know... Toys.

Mostly things I would want for more than a single day ride or even a long weekend. With 4 panniers and no trailer, I can do 150 miles and stay dry, comfortable, and with a full belly without needing a recharge. If I want to do a long ride and be able to hang at 25+ mph for most of it, I take the second battery. If it's the only thing in the trailer I have to keep reminding myself that it's back there. If the trailer has 70 or more pounds in it, it's not too hard to remember it's there.

I'm not really sure why the number of rides or the number of miles makes a difference to anyone but apparently it does.

January: 12 rides 232 miles
February: 11 rides 328 miles.
March: 15 rides 370 miles.
April: 25 rides 815 miles.
May: 19 rides 789 miles.
June: 14 rides 547 miles.
July: 17 rides 632 miles.
August: 23 rides 670 miles.
September to date: 5 rides 193 miles.

Everyone stay safe.

My car repair took a little longer than expected, but it is finished. I went out yesterday and knocked out 22.1 rough miles. Knees were on fire after two days of being up/down with the car.

9/6 - 22.1

MTD - 22.1
YTD - 930.5

This time last year, I was around 690 on the mileage.

Did some fool say "scuppered by weather"? My vast cycling plans for this week now appear somewhat half-vast. My derm likes me out of the sun, so my rides are done early and the long rides are done on a MUP with a lot of shade, provided by deciduous trees, some of which blow down on windy nights. I ride alternate days...Tu,Th, Sun...Sundays are non-MUP as there are just too many folks on the trail those days. I walk early on MWF, and have a support commitment for the SO those days, so squeezing in rides of any length is tough.

Forecast is for a goodly blow to start up about 5pm tonight and last through late morning tomorrow. Steady winds around 25mph, gusts north of 50mph. The trail crew is going to have plenty of chainsaw work tomorrow, and the wind will be funneling right down the 3-6% grade that is mlles 5-10 of the MUP. So tomorrow's 44 miles will have to be made up where I can squeeze them in. Sigh.

Another good, strong ride in the gorgeous mountains. I’m hovering just below 200 lbs, so cutting back a little on the intensity. Anything close to 50 miles in them thar hills is plenty.
