Are those eyelets there to run string through - you know, to make a sort of guard to keep ladies' skirts out of the rear wheel?

Cool set of fenders to be sure.

I have never seen a set of fenders like these. Perhaps they are rare. One never knows what one will find when out hunting for vintage bike stuff.

And, those holes in the rear fender. I stumbled across a bike with holy fenders just a couple of weeks ago. First one ever to find its way into The Old Shed. The bike - an old curved tube Concord Mixte...

That's a beautiful frame, and I love the chainguard. You could certainly make that into an amazing townie for a lucky lady - I'd certainly have no trouble in my neck of the woods.

What makes these fenders nice is that the skirt guard eyelets appear riveted. Most fenders just get drilled for skirt guards. Also, they're 650B but only 42mm wide, which would make them kind of limited to being used on a 650B bike with narrowish tires. On the other hand, they could be stretched out to work with 700c fenders.

No, they aren't. They are so you can be a mobile fountain, entertaining the hoi polloi by shooting streams of water out the sides as you pedal through the road spray.
