I could do that. I can find MD from here and I love to race! My wife expressed an interest in hitting some events this season. I need to get her safety completed also.

August.: High wheel only (ordinary to be exact - no high wheel safeties) race in Frederick, MD. 35 entrants. 0.4 mile criterium track. Ride to Frederick Keys baseball game and casual dinner at stadium (pre-game lap around infield for high wheel riders before first pitch with Greg Lemond).

Race on THOSE things? Yes, indeed.

I've only just seen the latest pictures, which were posted just before my previous, and they confirm that the front rim is certainly a very distinctive Surrey Machinist's one - it's a great shame that a small section has been destroyed. However, before you replace the rim, please consider whether the existing repair isn't adequate - probably it was made to enable the bike to be ridden rather than just for display? Although the new tyres appear to have virtually no wear, it's possible that the bike has been ridden a few times?

If you have difficulty in mounting a 56" wheel, the extra two inches might prove just a bit too much - especially with that Arab Cradle, which raises the saddle much higher than almost any other spring. Replacing this with a Long Distance saddle would certainly help considerably, of course.
