Thanks T-Mar! The Nishiki Serial Number Data Base is one of my favorite threads here. I love how the great unwashed masses (myself included) bring forth their offerings to be judged by he who knows Nishiki, T-Mar! Sometimes, the judgement is not pretty, but its always spot on, and never mean. I've learned a lot from your posts and wish you all the best.

If you want to work with me, you get to deal with it. It seems arbitrary to some folks, but I don't care. If T-mar wants to cut off at 10000 posts or some other arbitrary number, that's his decision and I'm fine with it.

I'm one of a very small handful of posters who have been here from the very first, even pre T-mar. When he arrived, the quality of responces on this board went up immeasurably, and they were already pretty good. More importantly, T-mar was one of the people who really helped set the tone for this board, which is friendly and informative. That's a rare combination on the internet.

Four heavy hitters themselves chiming in. I remember when John decided to set up velobase now I see constant references to it to ID everything. Remember when we argued over campy catalogs and scoured the internet to find answers? Now everyone just goes to velobase... when you have guys like Jon, Marty and the good pastor touting the knowledge of another member you know they are someone special. T-mar is unsurpassed in his contributions to the knowledge of especially this community. Other communities are disinterested in many of the bikes we love here on bike forums. T-mar takes in interest no matter the price point or quality, he is a true lover of bicycles.

I want to wish T-Mar all the best and to thank him for his insight and help in not only finding the year date of my Bianchi frame but the fact that it was made near the end of the year which explains why it was never built up.

Thanks again T-Mar this forum was enriched by your participation and I'm sure you'll be missed.

(I'm still hoping we've all misunderstood, so we can delete this thread and get back to peering at cell phone pics of rusty lugs)

The thing for me isn't so much quantity of posts, but quality (as stated before).
Out of his 10K posts T-Mar has significant and useful information in approx 9,950 (I haven't reread all
of them but I think the 50 are simple posts like 'You're Welcome' ......).

Heh, T-Mar painted himself into a corner by only leaving one post left to make! I hope this doesn't violate Forum rules or other confidentiality, but I believe he plans to check his PM box on occasion and maintain the serial number database thread(s) while he works on his Next Big Thing.

Always a sterling source; quick to note what others might have missed (and both friendly and helpful in doing so). Makes clear the distinction between a hypothesis and a guess, and digs up the real goods from those authoritative sources he has on hand (organic and hard copy alike).

T-mar's particular knowledge of Nishiki and of Miele, and of the Canadian bicycle market more generally, have especially struck close to my interests these past couple of years (and in my sifting through threads that pre-date my time here).

I do remember coming across this 10,000 post business in a thread a number of months ago. If he's got things to do, he's got things to do - but any possible absence will be noticed, and will be cause for lament.

Don't forget Sekai.. most of the info in that database was generously donated from T-mars brainpan and I for one will be forever grateful.

My guess is he has something really special to say for his 10,000th post. No pressure T-Mar!

It's been a great ride T-man. I've learned so much from you about vintage bikes and you made this forum a special place to come to. Thanks so much!

If indeed he is adamant about walking away at 10k posts, it will be a sad day for so many of us who have benefited so much and so often from the knowledge he shared.
So DON'T TAKE A POWDER ON US, T-MAR!
