Is normalized power field coming for Edge 500?
in the Garmin blog for the new Vector power meter:
I assume the firmware update won't be ready until about the same time as the pedal release, but maybe they'd do something sooner to work out issues not related to the Vector stuff. Anyone have info? I didn't read the entire Vector thread, it was too long.
"For users already using a Garmin Edge® 800 or Edge 500 cycling computer, adding a Vector power meter will take their training to the next level. Not only will the Edge display total power, left and right leg power, and cadence, it will now also display in real-time the widely adopted power metrics from TrainingPeaks™: Normalized Power (NP ™), Intensity Factor (IF ™) and Training Stress Score (TSS ™). The Edge 800 adds a new interval summary page to enhance the power-based training experience."
I don't really care about the pedals (I'm set with my PT's), but I sure will like it if they add normalized power to the Edge 500 through a firmware update. They will be doing some serious updates to add support for left/right power recording, etc, I just hope the normalized power works on existing ANT+ devices. I assume the firmware update won't be ready until about the same time as the pedal release, but maybe they'd do something sooner to work out issues not related to the Vector stuff. Anyone have info?
