I can't ID the crank or seat either, but along broad lines it's pretty obvious; good quality stuff but not top of the line. I'd put a new saddle on it, this one looks used up. That tiny little pannier cracks me up.

Thanks for the reply. I still dont know, most bikes I find of this age look like they have been dredged out of a canel.
Never had a bike with the hand opperated front derailleur and the little bags are cute. 150euros is alot of money so I might wait for another.,,

That looks like a steal for 150 Euros. The derailleurs, rack, brakes, panniers, and fenders are worth far more by themselves, even if the frame turns out to be gaspipe. I'd be on the way out the door to go see it...

I wouldn't hesitate to spend 150 euros on that - but that's me. Hopefully that bike stays together as is, but I see value in the fenders, the brake levers, what look to be really neat glass reflector jewels on the bar ends, cute little seat bag, frame pump, pannier bag (tool kit?), neat rack, wing nuts, etc. Lots of cool stuff there.
Looks like French Cyclo front and rear derailleurs. Can't tell for sure, but maybe a 4-spd freewheel? If it's a 5-speed, that derailleur alone is worth several times more than the asking price of the entire machine. The cranks are cottered steel - possibly Durax or Duprat - brand name is likely stamped on them. Can't remember what those brakes are called right now (PYL?)

If it were larger, at 150 euros, I'd be asking if you were willing to facilitate a buy for me!! IMO, buy it, ride it, and then decide whether to keep it or resell it. You win either way!

That bike is a worthy candidate for collection and restoration. The price is not bad at all. Do not, however, expect it to handle like a racing bike. Expect a more relaxed and stable ride quality, filled with the fun of addressing Old School components and the use there of.

my guess (without any research) is that the crank is a Stronglight. They had a cottered crank that became the 49 (as copied by VO)

is this bike unique and cool or what?what did your internet search tell you about the bike and the company/builder?can we safely assume the teeny panniers are so tiny to keep weight down on what the rider could carry or were the teeny panniers built before big ones were made?i like the originality and patina of bike!.congrats!.....what will you do with bike?clean and ride?restore?

Apparntly I get a chance to buy it on saturday morning, unless a frenchie jumps in front a buys it. I just brought a bike this evening for 40 euros so not sure how the wife will be impressed with another one so soon.
