Thoughts on EVO bikes

I ve seen this bike in a couple of LBS. Not much info on the web other then their own website. $399. I'm not a big biker at all (haven't ridden a bike since my 1980's BMX bike when I was a teen.) I have been thinking of starting to bike to work instead of taking the subway or driving, but mostly for exercise. My "commute" would be about 7 miles round trip. Obviously for the price, the components will be bottom tier. I might pull the trigger on it. Simply because it would be a knock around bike that wouldn't hurt if it were ever stolen or if I decide to give up riding. And its looks cool IMO. thoughts? worth it?

I looked at the spec sheet BEFORE I looked at the price. My initial reaction was this is kind of a cute bike as long as it is well under $500.

I think at $399 it is probably a decent bike. However I am sure all of the big players such as Trek, Giant and Specialized all offer extremely competitive models that you may want to check out as well.

Are you able to ride one in the size you need?

test rode one in my size already. I can't really compare it to anything else in my LBS because its the least expensive bike in the shop by at least $140 dollars. lol. I thought it was fine enough. I rode a friends GT Traffic and to be honest it felt very similar. I think the GT was from 2010/11

For a short-range commute, considering your budget - I think it makes a lot of sense and if you get it in black or a really ugly color, its not likely to be a bike thief magnet.

Its a good color! A theft deterrent is to remove or cover the brand name sticker with electrical tape. The less attractive it looks, the less likely someone is going to steal it.
