Cycling Sardinia Italy
Has any one here been to Sardinia? I here the cycling is great . Planning to set up base there and doing day trips . Does the island have enough to keep a cyclist busy for two weeks. Then move to mainland Tuscany for a week . Planning all this for early spring. Thanks

Toscana has some excellent riding. Also, I would highly recommend agrotourismo in a renovated farmhouse rather than staying in the cities.

I'm quite interested to hear any input as well! We're trying to plan a vacation for which my husband has chosen Italy, but has left the where in the country up to me.

Any of the secondary roads near or around Sienna , better in the fall when the tourist are thinning out. I will go back to Tuscany after our Sardinia trip. If you like cycling big mountain passes give the Dolomites a whirl. Some very humbling climbs with incredible scenery.

Sardinia is on my todo list for a week-long tour in March. Spring is the best time to go when everything is green and the tourist season hasn't really started.
Corsica to the North has much more spectacular mountain riding and is much wilder but getting there on budget flights from my local airport is harder.

We rode through both in 2010 and found Corsica to be the beter of the two. A lot of people (mainly Italians) think it should belong to them.
More details and pictures on our page also check out these two at crazyguyonabike, they just rode through both islands.
