I find this a very interesting study in human thought. On the one hand there are a few who seem to argue that it's no big deal, however, most seem put off by this. If the logic offered, or assumed by reading between the lines, would hold true across situations, then it would seem that very few folks on this forum have any sexual relations with others. (Notice how I haven't answered the OP's questions?) I don't know if I would buy them or not, but the thread sure has caused me to wonder about it.

I certainly would NEVER buy used shorts. The very idea sends chills up and down my spine.

However, that being said, a racing team did give me a half dozen pair of shorts and some of them were used. You can bet I washed them about ten times before I wore them.

Did you know that Chlorox isn't particularly good for pads?

Heck yeah I'd buy used cycling shorts. I'd buy them from Jennifer, Stephanie or any of the other girls that ride in our group. I'd drink some beer and then wear them on my head!

I have never bought used clothing of any description, and barring the unforeseen, I never will. Clothes are like wine, I can afford fresh.

That's the problem with you 50-plussers. You're just a bunch of old fuds who don't know how to loosen up and have fun.

I couldn't see myself getting used cycling shorts.
Getting a "Brief Safe" for those long bike trips might different.

How do you folks take test rides on new bikes, knowing there's a good chance someone else's arse sat in that saddle? And what's the half-life of cooties, anyway?

I usually take my own saddle with me when I take a test ride. Afterall, I might have a negative view of the entire bike, when it's just the saddle causing the problem.

And, if I'm correct, half-life only comes into play on things not alive. Which raises the question, "Do dead cooties count?"

The used cycling short was the layer of clothing that was between the saddle on the new bike and the arse.

How do you think I got the $1000 for the bike? Now that the bike is paid for I can start eating lunches again.

OK, I've reading this thread for a while, now, and giving it some good, hard thought.
No. No way. I don't even like reusing my own.
