Oh sure, Fella, I'd love to tell you why. But from what I understand from reading the papers, that's why you're in the dire straights you're in. Someone's always telling you why, and you go off on your merry way, confindent in your perception of why. Let me ask you this: has it ever occurred to you to find out why yourself? Would it kill you to lift a finger, be good citizen, and ask yourself, "why?" I know hardened criminals who've figured out why while they were doing a dime up at "Q." So why not you?

I don't know why, I almost found out but a big bubble came to the surface of the water and pushed me back to the island before I could find out.

Runaway by Del Shannon

As I walk along I wonder what went wrong
With our love, a love that was so strong
And as I still walk on, I think of the things we've done
Together, while our hearts were young

I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me to end this misery
And I wonder. I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder why
Ah-why-why-why-why-why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway, run-run-run-run-runaway

I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me to end this misery
And I wonder. I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder why
Ah-why-why-why-why-why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway, run-run-run-run-runaway

I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me to end this misery
And I wonder. I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder why
Ah-why-why-why-why-why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway, a-run-run-run-run-runaway
A-run-run-run-run-runaway

Tell Me Why
Lennon/McCartney

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

Well I gave you everything I had
But you left me sitting on my own
Did you have to treat me oh so bad
All I do is hang my head and moan

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

If there's something I have said or done
Tell me what and I'll apologize
If you don't I really can't go on
Holding back these tears in my eyes

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

Well I'm beggin' on my bended knees
If you'll only listen to my pleas
Is there anything I can do
'cause I really can't stand it
I'm so in love with you

Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me

WARNING! THREAD HIJACK! THREAD HIJACK! THREAD HIJACK!

I was/am just a casual fan of The Prisoner, and never once gave any of it a moment of thought, as the metaphors, parables, symbolism and anologies are pretty obvious.

About two years ago I woke up in the middle of the night, and realized what "The Rover" was, or could be. It represents "the prisoner's" self doubt, and it always occurs when he is about to make a breakthrough. The next morning I wrote the offical Prisoner fan club web site with my idea. The person who answered said that he had never heard that theory before, and that it had merit.

THREAD HIJACK OVER...

Why Men Are Just Happier People

What do you expect from such simple creatures?
Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours.
Wedding plans take care of themselves.
Chocolate is just another snack.
You can be president.
You can never be pregnant.
You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
You can wear NO T-shirt to a water park.
Car mechanics tell you the truth.
The world is your urinal.
You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one
is just too icky.
You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
Same work, more pay.
Wrinkles add character.
Wedding dress $5,000. Tux rental -- $100.
People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.
The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected.
New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.
One mood -- all the time.
Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
You know stuff about tanks.
A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
You can open all your own jars.
You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $5.95 for a three-pack.
Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.
You almost never have strap problems in public.
You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.
Everything on your face stays its original color.
The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
You only have to shave your face and neck
You can play with toys all your life.
Your belly usually hides your big hips.
One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons.
You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look.
You can "do" your nails with a pocketknife.
You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.
You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24th in 45 minutes.

1. For all the starving children in Bulgaria,

2. Damnit Coyote*, 'cause I said so, and

3. [My For-All-Times Favorite] It's a Mystery of the Church, my son.

* - I was 14 years old before I discovered my first name wasn't "Damnit".
