Child seat for todder on road bike or mountain bike
Hi all,
I'm wondering if there is a GOOD (i.e., safe and reliable) child seat/carrier that could be used for a 30-35 pound toddler, mounted on most likely a hard tail mountain bike, or steel-framed road bike?
Any suggestions? Would probably want it to go to 40 lbs so it lasts a few years.

iBert safe-T-seat, Kettler Flipper, or Topeak BabySeat II. Another option is to buy an Adams Trail-a-Bike and equip it with the optional babyseat so your child has something to grow into.

For this weight I would probably use Bobike Maxi. It does not fit all the bikes, and it's more expensive than cheap Bells, but goes to 55lbs.

I was going to recommend the Trail-A-Bike too. I have one for my littlest daughter and it's great. They also have a backrest and seatbelt that you can add instead of the baby seat.
The trail-a-bike is not great for going fast though...my daughter weighs 35 lbs and between her weight and the trail-a-bike's weight, I can definitely feel the difference.

I used the original Topeak Babysitter (like the Baby Seat above). It's designed for bikes with rack mounts. I don't believe it's compatible with bikes that don't have them.
On the plus side, it's super-easy to take the baby seat off of it, and you're left with a fully-functioning cargo rack.

We have a Topeak BabySeat II that we swap between my bike and my husband's bike. His bike is a road bike. It works great, and is good for up to 48.5 lbs. My 4 year old still sits in it comfortably, and will sleep in it if we're out late.
There's also the Weehoo: https://www.rei.com/product/808195/we...o-trailer-bike
It's a recumbent trail-a-bike, and fits kids from baby to 75 lbs.
