Frame saver Qs
Per the instructions at Echelon - Frame Saver, is it serviceable/OK to do the "light" application as the bike is complete? Anyone do that before? Would prefer to wait for the Fall to do a big thing like it suggests (new to taking bike apart).
It's a steel bike under 1 yr half old.
Also, this the same frame saver as JP weigle frame saver?

I'll assume the question is legit. Doing a half-way job is a waste of time and coating. Disassemble the bike to the bare frame and fork and coat the tubes properly. You can leave the headset cups and crown race in place if you mask them but everything else should come off.
I have no idea if the product you linked to is the same as Weigel's Frame Saver but I do know Amsoil HDMP is the same stuff and can be found at most NAPA auto parts stores in a bigger can for less money.

Having treated a bike with Amsoil HDMP, I wouldn't do it with the bike assembled. For one, you've got to turn the frame every which way to spread the stuff around, and that would be pretty clumsy with the bike intact. It will also get where you don't want it, like headset bearings and your bottom bracket (particularly problematic if you don't have a sealed cartridge bottom bracket). And it's still liquid when you're done spreading the stuff by twirling the bike around, so when you put it down, it'll collect in the lowest point(s) of the bike. I'm glad I had my bottom bracket removed, which allowed me to control the excess as it dripped down from the down tube and seat tube.

I was brave (dumb?) enough to click the link and it is identical to JP Weigle's frame saver. It even uses the exact same image on the can just without his name.

The thing is inorder to get the stuff * well distributed inside the frame tubes you have to slosh it around every which way before it dries ..
and that is really only practical when the frame is bare, completely stripped down ..
