Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2018 Roubaix Elite vs Newer Roubaix Model

Hello all, I'm looking to upgrade from my $300 amazon bike to a roubaix.

There is a LBS with a 2018 Roubaix Elite for a nice price ($2400) and I'm wondering if I should get that or just spring for a new 2020 Roubaix Sport or Comp. I believe the Elite with have better components that a new sport or comp.

Any thoughts, any opinions on the matter? Anyone have a 2018 Roubaix Elite willing to give feedback?

Thanks,
Adam

The 2018 model will have the 105 5800 series components with the RS 505 brake shift levers. I found the RS 505 to be rather bulky, uncomfortable, and a little ugly too.

The newer 2020 bikes you mention have the 105 7000 series on the sport and Ultegra on the comp, both are better than what is on the 2018 bike.

Depending on availability, the 2020 Roubaix sport seems like a better choice for just a little more money.
