Crushed someone's Christmas present today. Coming back from a ride 2 RC cars approached me from the front. At the last second one of them swerved into me. I was watching for it but still had no chance to dodge. Looked like Mom & Pop were driving the cars. I waved and said sorry but didn't stop.

Trying for 200 miles for the week. I have it off for Christmas and can spare the time. I'm at 111 for the first four days. Live in Central Florida and the weather has been cooperating.

Rained for most of the day, yesterday, so no usual ride for me. However, after supper, I got bored and brought the bike in and set it up on the trainer. Attitude and intensions were good at the beginning, but either the re-runs on TV or the initial boredom prior to getting started, made it to where I was reluctant to do another pedal stroke by mile five. I really pushed myself to get in a total of 10 trainer miles but I can see that I won't be doing more trainer rides, that late at night, anytime soon.

Yesterday was a wash out with rain. Today a ton of errands and such but did manage to fit in 22 miles.

Blizzard today, so no riding but a nice ride in the sunshine yesterday though. Won't ride now until the storm is over and the roads get all plowed. We may be nuts and wish it was summer again but winter riding is really fun and challenging. I love the cold sunny days once the snow is plowed off. It makes for good riding provided you have studded tires for unexpected black ice patches etc.

Rain was gone and sun was out today so I played hooky from work, took my bike off the trainer and joined a club ride up into the Oakland hills. It was an almost too frigid to ride 50 degrees when we left. I was glad I had put on my full winter kit - leg AND arm warmers. Got 30 miles in. Looks like we might get another rideable day this weekend.

30 fixed gear miles this afternoon. With 69 more miles I can break 4000 for the year.

About 6 miles from downtown Fort Worth, still solidly in the city:

Rode to work today. Normally it's a 22 mile round trip commute, but I fear this will be the last decent* day weather-wise before the new year, and I'm so close to hitting an until recently believed unreachable annual mileage goal, so I added an extra loop around the park before heading to the office. And I'll probably toss in an extra loop or two on the way home tonight. I just don't want to be sitting there New Year's Eve looking at my 2012 mileage log and thinking "Damn! if only I'd gone around the block one extra time!"

...actually, what I'll probably be thinking is "Damn! Stupid rain!"

* by "decent" I really mean dry. It was 28°F with a 14mph breeze from the north (for a Wind Chill/"Real Feel" of 20°F) when I set out this morning. Not exactly my favorite cycling weather...but at least it was dry!

Between waking up late and raking the yard+errands, I fit in 34 miles. Tomorrow looks to be a wash out with rain and cold.

Worked in a quick ride before the rain from the cold front comes through here this evening. Lost out yesterday when the water supply line to our house slipped a fitting at the meter. Got it repaired just before dark so I punted the days ride.

I should have ridden - it was nice this morning. Nice and cold, but nice. I went out to check out the morning and it was 30 degrees. I thought, eh, I'll wait till noon. By noon it was raining and I had my excuse. Going for a long car ride tomorrow, so no riding then. Probably not back on till Monday. Then 5 weeks till my first planned group ride. I need to get moving. :-/

Was hoping to get in a decent ride yesterday morning when my brother called and wanted to go ride at the MUP by his house. So I figured I could get in two rides instead of one, but ended up with one painfully slow 15 mile ride that took just too long. I have to give him some credit because he is riding and trying to get into it.

Despite heavy snow flurries that made visibility difficult, the wife & I went for a very short (3.5 miles round trip) ride on our road bikes today...because we were all out of cat food! When we got back she said "That was really fun! I definitely need to get a 'cross bike."

I did 32 miles last night with our scrawny Critical Mass group.

I rode exactly 37 miles today with fellow BFers nkfrench (middle) and Yo Spiff (right) and am sitting at 4000 miles for the year.

Looking back at previous years, I guess the 4000 is my highest yearly total ever, almost 1000 miles more than last year (which was admittedly a disappointing year).
