Status of paved trail along US-127 near Alma Michigan?

I was driving to Greyling the other month for a canoe trip. Along the way, I noticed a new paved trail along US127, starting S of Alma. I can't seem to find much information about it on the web. It seems to go into Alma and probably meets up with the Fred Meijer hartland trail. But how far south does this new stretch go to?
This weekened, I'd like to start from the Southern end of this new trail, and probably a few miles on the FMH trail. I'd just like to know where I'd park and start from.

I believe that this is part of the Mid-Michigan Community Pathways Project that seeks to have a multi-use path from Ithaca to Clare.
