Missing leather saddle front bolt

Hi everyone,

I got this vintage leather off eBay. I expected dried leather which it was. It looked salvageable.
It arrived missing the front tensionning bolt. Looking back on the pictures that area was dark
and unclear. Anyway does anyone know a source for these or has an extra.
Thanks.

Was this mentioned in the item description? I'd try to get my money back on general principle.

It sucks, but I would think you can source a bolt easily enough and with less trouble than sending the saddle back. Hardware stores, someone else's destroyed saddle, online...somewhere.

Of course not that it wasn't mentioned in the ad? Or, of course not that you will send it back as being incomplete, with no mention of it in the ad?

The bolt should work but I would call Wallingford to confirm. They are nice folks.

Of course it wasn't mentioned. The pictures were dark made that corner just black.

That picture shows you are missing more than the bolt. The metal nose piece is not there or at least not attached to the leather. Have you ever replaced rivets before?

I had to look twice, but the nose piece at least is there. Sounds like the OP would rather make do than confront the seller, and I have to admit that there have been times when I should have noticed something awry in the picture or description, but in this case, the seller really should have been upfront about it.

It looks as though you're lacking the shackle, as well as the tension bolt.

More seriously, though, it looks as though the leather has been stretched to it's limit - if not beyond?

Looks like the metal nose cap is there, in which case, you're lucky. A shackle, a bolt and nut and it should be OK. If it hasn't been stretched out to the max. But Tony C. is probably right.
