This Raleigh International Is No Anchor
Picked this early seventies Raleigh International up from a local thrift store for 200 canadian.Looks to be fairly stock and should shine up nice. Too bad i ride a 52cm!

Not stock, but my wife and I love them. Gives a very spirited ride. You got a killer deal there. Perhaps you can swing a couple more deals to end up with one that's your size.

I recently came to understand the glory of 531-framed Raleighs.
Seriously digging everything about this bike, and really want to track down a chrome-lugged International or Professional. Finding it in this metallic orange would not suck. Not one little bit.

Looks like the bike couldn't have seen too many miles... it looks it might have the original bar tape, albeit with a few patches here and there. My International has the original tape and it is relatively thin with some small ribs. Definitely not designed for the rider's comfort! Still, it does nicely match the white brake hoods, brake cables, and Raleigh graphics.

I,m thinking i will be using new white tape and white cable housing as bike seems to be pretty original. You folks have some beautiful Internationals.

My first good tourer was a Raleigh International. 1972 Green model. Bought as a shop leftover for $190. I was working in radio as a young assistant engineer. Had $430, wanted a new Paramount, and smallest size was two sizes too big for me, and too late for a 1973 model. Schwinn store was less than 1 block from home, went and visited my grandmother's home in Alcoa, TN that weekend of June. Went to the Raleigh dealer, looked at the new bikes on offer. Asked about a good touring bike which fit me. Chap says I have something in the back, an International. (Campy RD was removed to replace one on another bike. he installed a new replacement that morning, set up and adjusted it for me., I bought a rack. some panniers, and rode it across town to Alcoa from Maryville. Came home with a few nice records. and a few HiFi goodies for that house. Had the smallest frame offered, rode it for 6 years. Miss it. It rode and handled great. effortlessly ate up miles. Rode my first quarter century on the International. I'd gladly own another one my size. Still my favorite.
