Hi folks.

I'm looking for an anti-theft solution for my bike seat and post. I have an old bike from 1992, so my requirements are limited. Best to see the pics below, as well as:

• I'm not needing a full skewer set. I thought I could get just the seat skewer with anti-theft by itself.
• I don't want to go with a hex driver system, as it's quite common.

I thought someone might know a good place to get something like this on its own. Basically a secure skewer on its own.

Any insight appreciated. Cheers

Hi Fiets Bob. Heh I should be joining the Fiets when I get to EU again soon.

Ya $64 for a seat post bolt is steep. I can find something on Amazon for half that or less. This isn't for long term, just so that my seat isn't ripped off in 8 seconds. I'm always in view of my bike.

I emailed these guys in Toronto to see if they'll get back to me. Otherwise back to square one.

A few more to consider, Pinhead and Hexlox. Both use proprietary keys.

Go the old school route with a Joe Breeze Hite Rite. They're still around since I procured one recently.

That doesn't solve the issue. I'm looking for short-term security.

Even a hex nut and bolt * will increase the inconvenience security over a lever opened clamp.

*needing 2 wrenches to be used at the same time ..

How about ...............
Another seat tube band clamp, regular cap screw, glue a bearing ball in the hex socket .

Oh certainly. But here in bike theft capital of the universe, hex wrenches are standard. For $15 I thought I could get away with something.

pinhead and hexlock each use a weird wrench, but the company each only make one ,

there is also a pentagon rather than hex socket head machine screws ..
and general security bolts with a pin hex torx etc.

requiring a wrench with a clearance hole in the center..



Running a cable down through the seat post and frame so seatpost won't come out
until you remove the BB, (or use an extra long water bottle bolt ) rather than go to BB

could also be created....

Ya I saw that central pin. Like I said, this is just for a delay. The only way I've found to not get my bikes stolen, is to have them in sight. I've lost too many, including one from the back of my car, where they tried both doors, the trunk and the sunroof, eventually pulling it out over my front seats out the driver's side door.

An odd key that fits my old setup is miles away from a quick release. I'd be happy with something like that.

Use some old chain in a tube through the seat rail and frame! I learned that from Hal Ruzal videos on YouTube a few years ago.

Ya too much work, plus weight, noise, etc. An odd bolt/nut will suffice. It seems someone's thinking though. Never thought of that. by that time they probably screwed up the seat, etc.

What ever happened to seat keepers? A stoopid simple stainless steel cable attached to the frame and bolted down with the seat post adjusting bolt. It is wrapped around the seat to keep it out of the rider's skin, and weighs about an few ounces. It takes time to steal a seat with one of these on your bike, and they work. Smiles, MH
