Last weekend we did a ride along the Eastern Shore. The route is a mix of trails and reasonably quiet residential roads. This was our start/finish point ...

There's a lovely little paved trail that runs adjacent to Interstate 90 between La Crescent and Dresbach, Minnesota (along the Mississippi River.) With this trail now open, it's possible to ride from La Crosse, WI to Winona, MN on trail, low-traffic roads, or highway shoulder...without climbing a single hill!

Rode some of the Milwaukee Road and NorPac Trails in MT and maybe 8 miles of the CdL Trail in ID back in June.

...i don't know if they do this everywhere, but I recently passed on a couple of different days a kid on a strange electric small wheeled bike with a helmet carrying some fancy camera technology, riding along slowly taking the street view footage for Google Maps on the American River Bike Trail here in Sacramento.

So basically, you can go to Google maps and follow the whole darn trail with a 360*, virtual viewpoint. It's pretty cool.

...this is the viewpoint right across the river from my house. So if you look across the river, that's Paradise Beach, in East Sacramento.

I've found myself on google maps on the street a couple of times, but recently I passed a google camera guy walking on a trail, so I'm checking regularly to see if I show up on the trail view.

A new one has been built between two nearby towns here in Tasmania and we're hoping they'll extend it north and south. But meanwhile, it is actually about 12 km round trip which isn't bad for a trail in Tasmania!

Here's a list of them in our general area.

Looks extensive, but how I wish all these bicycle trails were properly sealed, with logical start and finish points, and interconnected!!

I'm not sure which Vancouver Island trail it was, but we rode this one up toward Brentwood Bay. Some lovely trails there!

Earlier on this thread I posted a list of Metro Boston Bikepaths, including Cape Cod bikepaths:

When I saw the photo of that path in Vancouver, I was reminded of this bikepath, also on Cape Cod, Shining Sea Bikeway (link).

Since the Cape and MV are such desirable cycling destinations, I thought I’d relate my route with some suggestions. I took the most direct route to the Cape because I was destination-driven, in particular since I needed to catch a ferry. I was transported home by car on Sunday….

The Bourne Bridge is a high-arched bridge, seemingly several hundred feet over the Cape Cod Canal and I wasn’t fond of riding it, so I walked it about a quarter mile, fixing my gaze on the sidewalk rather than look over the edge. Once over the Bridge though, I entered Cycling Paradise.

The first turn off the rotary is onto Shore Road which passes through delightful seaside villages, then to County Road and 28A. At the intersection of Rte 151, about 100 yards or so to the right is the entrance to the beautiful Shining Sea Bike Path, and then 10 miles straight into Woods Hole and the Ferry dock. I didn’t even realize the Bike Path was there, and I would have missed it had I not seen two cyclists emerging from it on to the road.

I sped down it to the ferry, passing beautiful greenery, tidal marshes, ponds, and finally ocean views. Only a few sleepy residential roads intersect the path.

I hope these directions are helpful and I would like to hear if there is a better way, especially from Wareham to the Bridge. The total distance was about 81 miles this time and 83 miles two years ago…

Rock cut on a old rail line now multi use trail near my home. Horse riders have right of way. First rode on this 11 mile trail with my brothers and our friends 47 years ago.

Recently rode the Route of the Hiawatha trail (uphill direction) from ID into MT. The final tunnel heading east is 1.66 miles long, wet and dark.
