Vlees Road Race

Hello,

Is there anyone out there that has done this race? I was curious how long the inital climb is. I have some Garmin stats from a friend but I was hoping for some local knowledge. Thanks for your help

The climb starts relatively flat near the bottom, slowly gets steeper, flattens out in the middle, then kicks up for the last mile. In the P/1/2 we did ~16 minutes for our fastest lap. It's similar in grade to the Round Mountain climb in the District Road Race. After the summit there is a short descent with a turnaround at the bottom. It's very difficult if you're not positioned near the front of the field because you go from 40mph to 5 mph then back up the climb.

Thank you so much, my teammate told me it was a 10 mile climb that gets really steep at the end. I'm not much of a climber as my fat gut and lack of endurance make me more of a crit guy.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's definitely a hard race. Once you get done with the main climb there are a bunch of big rollers with almost no flat ground for another 8 miles.
