10 weeks as a guinea pig
Being loyal to working out is easy everything else I have no discipline whatsoever I plotted 10 weeks on a notebook where I eat a better diet and live a healthier lifestyle and see what happens in 10 weeks. I know I will feel better. No booze, junk food, diet Dr. Pepper and energy drinks like NOS and Monster. At 50+ I feel everything that is bad and recovering properly is more important now. So if an extra recovery day is needed I will take it. Recovery days need to be recovering days Anyway I’m on a 10 week experiment to see what happens positively.

If you are really making a drastic change to your diet, then be aware that a few weeks in to it you might feel like warmed over death with headaches, dizziness, grouchiness, etc. I did when I quit meat, dairy and some other stuff.
I even passed a gallstone a couple months after starting that diet, and between passing a kidney stone or a gallstone, I'd rather pass the kidney stone again.
That was a while back, and I stayed on that diet for well over a year and it was one of the healthier feeling and better cycling performing times for me. I've gone back to eating everything again, but not to the extent where I think I'm overindulging on the stuff that doesn't bring much nutrition with it.
Short message in the story: Just be aware that changing to a healthier diet doesn't mean your body won't initially rebel and make you think you did the wrong thing.

PS: if you do start to struggle along the way I recommend you get something hops based (usually found in a brown bottle) and a popular Italian product consisting of dough, gravy, cheese and pepperoni. This on a recovery day should help.

I love sweets. I can eat ice cream by the quart, add maple syrup to cereal and commit many other such atrocities, until recently. A Ted Talk by a microbiologist alerted me to the findings where it has been shown that cancer cells love and respond to sugar. This has been known for quite some time but is new to me. I suppose a bit of sugar in the diet would not be so bad if sugar were not also added in surprisingly large amounts to all sorts of things. Read the labels.
