My nom de net started years ago when I signed into a mountain bike forum. Terex was the earthmoving equipment division of General Motors and their headquarters was originally located in a town where we lived in Ohio. Terex was derived from the words "terra" and "rex", meaning Earth King. Worked for mountain biking and then road cycling. A few years ago Adidas thought it was a pretty good name too and came out with the Terrex line of trail runners. When I was riding a lot, my buddies and I all had nicknames - Marcello (Italian guy, great climber), TiBoy (was riding a titanium frame), Diesel (former college linebacker) and I was Terex, or sometimes T-Rex.

I used to post under my real name, but I picked up a stalker. The 'new' nom-de-forum fits my personality, or at least my mentality, even though I'm getting a bit slower as I mature.

I wanted a net name that wouldn't be taken by someone else. I can sign up on any site, and the name will be available unless there are silly requirements such as having a numeric digit in the username. So I picked a name that is an anagram of my surname. People ask me if I'm a glider, and I say no. So there, you go: noglider.

At 57 I don't consider myself old and don't always ride old bikes. When I joined the forums though, I was riding with a group of guys who were all about twenty years younger than me and riding carbon bikes. I was riding a mid-1990s steel bike. So, in very relative terms I was the old guy on an old bike.

I exclusively ride 5 speed Collegiates and 5 speed Suburbans from the early 1970's and mid seventies. They have Shimano gearing( model J freewheel) and Shimano built rear derailleur (GT-100 for the 1970-1973 models-----------and GT-120 for the 1974-1977 models).
I have a good collection of these in various colors. I prefer the Women's frame in 21" and 19" frame sizes.
Oh, by the way, I ride them over 100 miles per week. I love the simplicity of them and the ride quality.
I also head up a group called the Vintage Schwinn Riders Group........................its just a group of riding friends, some tri competitors, and marathon runners, and ex- college tennis players. Stay Thin Ride A Schwinn and enjoy the ride because you can have fun on any bike even if it is a somewhat "weighty" old Chicago SCHWINN that isn't worth very much money.

This could entertain me for hours
Figuring out an anagram for my surname. Cool.
Edit:
It didn't take as long as I thought ...
I_CHERISH_N+1 where all but the +1 are the letters of my surname, and rather appropriate. Wonder if it's available?

1) One of my two given names means 'badger' in several British dialects/languages; and
2) The Badger (BH) is one of my all-time pro cycling heroes.
3) No connection whatsoever with Wisconsin.

Like a Phoenix, my ability to ride has risen from the ashes. I was a 3,000 mile-a-year rider, and then my back blew up. I had fusion surgery, then fought a multi-year battle with lymphoma. I'm fully in remission now, and as long as I keep my core strong, riding the bike doesn't hurt. When I joined the forums, I decided Phoenix Biker described me pretty accurately.

Very simple: Back when I registered here I was the customer service guy at a chain bookstore, processing all in-store orders and sorting and shelving all orders as they arrived.

Mine is just as it sounds "old bike ride".
The newest bike I ride is about 15 years old and my oldest is 38 years old.

I used to repair sportbikes and did plastic welding, body work and painting. This was a wrecked bike that I repaired. The graphics and logos are all painted on, no decals on the bike. This was a bike I took to shows, and had before and after pictures. I used Plasticweld has a screen name, because years ago no one believed that it worked. I ran Empire Gp for 12 years before closing the doors. The market had changed, young guys no longer zip around on sportbikes anymore. Our slogan used to be "Ride Hard Take Chances, We Need the Work." I use the same screen name on the the handful of forums I am on today, every once in awhile an old customer will recognize it.

Mine is obvious but I need to confess that my profile pic is not a supposed self portrait.

Yours was NOT obvious to me for a long time, because I didn't pronounce it out loud.

Was the answer my son gave one day to his dad when hubby was looking for me and couldn't find me around the house or in the barn.
