This looks like it had a well traveled hard used life but they are great bvikes. Unfortunately this one looks a bit big for me but otherwise I might be interested in it. I had the next model up from amaybe a year or two later and while a fabulous bike, it was a tad big.

Strange components for a Santana. Plus 27inch wheels. Brakes look like it could be an early one.
Cheers,

3Rensho Super Record Aero frameset, 58cm - $520 (Mound)

A rare 3(san)Rensho Super Record Aero frameset, 1984, hand made in Japan. Campagnolo dropouts, Shimano headset, and Shimano Dura Ace Aero shifters. The frame is an unusualy large size, 58cm center-to-center seat tube. The right rear dropout is cracked, so needs to be repaired or replaced before it is rideable. The top tube had some rust around the cable guides, the rust was treated with rust neutralizer and resprayed.
Wheelset not included

$520 cash, or PayPal

$520 seems like a big ask on a frame that requires a major repair and then paint. I checked with Joe Bell and he charges $300 to replace a rear dropout and then new paint in 1 color is about $800 Something to consider before purchase.

Maybe so but these are some of the few that easily justify whatever it takes to make them right, the cult of 3R is very real, serious and not for the faint of heart.

Its also on efbay now for $740 obo so....

If you get it, you get, if not, well.....

This is from a friend in Austin. I would consider this a very fair deal for a (BIG!) frame that is absolutely immaculate. If you can fit it...

Understood I definitely agree these deserve special attention now but I still feel like $520 is on the high side. I have seen two fully refurbished frames on Offer Up in the 6 - $800 range in the last 6 months. I currently own 3 and looking for #4 in the Pista version. I knew Yoshi when I lived and raced in Japan and he had agreed to build me a bike when I was there but I was in Osaka and his shop was outside of Tokyo. A very expensive ride on the Shinkansen or a flight which as a starving bike racer I couldnt afford then sadly. Yes I have huge regrets now that I didnt somehow make it work but living there was a struggle for me at that time. Anyway if someone from the Forum buys it at least they will have a better idea of the repair costs before the purchase.

Agreed, this one is a serious project that presents the opportunity to get it right and know its right. The offer up ones may or may not be right despite being redone. Careful in person scrutiny would be the only way to do this.

This one could go straight to Jack at Franklin frame and be made whole for far less than $1100, probably closer to half that, even if not you could be in this and know for a fact it is good, right and yours, mine, etc.

I have an older ratty offset crown, rusty chrome fork one that is a bit small, panto stem and SP that has been languishing for quite awhile.

I need to dig it out and decide what to do, almost sent the fork out after I got it but failed, ef me.

The Merz's, Strawberry's and Paramount's along with a few others overran the program.
