Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Custom Paint Job....

Has anyone here just wanted a change and done a custom paint job?.....I know of a shop that will do whatever you want and has a good reputation....I'm all black right now and kinda want to switch it up....much cheaper than a new bike!

Are we talking repainting a metal frame, or carbon fiber?

You have got thousands invested in your Aerfast Platinum, why would you put up with anything but exactly what you want to ride.

I've been thinking about this lately too (and also in New England so thanks for the link!). I've always wanted green bike, but it wouldn't match my current jerseys like my bike does now in black. Is that a weird thing to worry about? 🤣

No it's not weird at all and one of the reasons I'm hesitant....My black bike goes with everything as well....I would actually paint mine a flat gray....Destroyer Gray to be exact which is the color of my Dodge....That goes with everything also....

I looked at some of the examples of their work on the site. Looks impressive. I have a flat black Trek Domane. When I bought it, I thought it looked cool, but it hasn't aged well with me. Now it just looks a bit boring. I tried to dress it up with some red hb tape and bottle cages, but after seeing the custom painted frames, man I'd love to do that. Let us know how it turns out. I love the idea.

Yep same here....Flat black....love the stealth look but it's time for a change....I'll probably do it at the end of the season

I went this route back in 2013 with the Ridley Noah I had at the time. The paint job done by Jack Kane surpassed my expectations and painted it exactly the way I had requested. I just checked their website the Noah is still in the gallery.

Thanks. My intentions was to build up an "all show and go" bike and that Noah didn't disappoint. I eventually sold the frameset a year or two later.

I almost forgot, prior to selling the frameset, I had actually plasti-dipped the frameset myself because I was getting tired of the pink colorway and set up the Noah for the winter rides. Plus, it protected the paint job and when I was ready to let it go, I just peeled off the plasti-dipped finish.
