I think we talked about this once. I have zero idea, but the colors and decals look identical

Oops. I'll probably do it again in the future, forgetting the previous time and this time. They say that as we get older, our memory is the second thing to go.

here's a picture of the wrap. It's worked pretty well-- it's thin enough that the cable doesn't rub. I used Fizik microtex, and it's been really durable so far. I didn't even have to undo the cable to put it on-- I think I just loosened the brake and pushed the tape under each time around. Then I just taped the ends with electrical tape.

If you ride in the rain, watch out for rust build-up under the tape.

I'm pretty sure I have the same one too. I thought mine was a 1999. I bought it used, but it was very close to stock and components lead me to the 1999 version with RSX 7 speed STI. I've upgraded most of it. Oddly, I don't have a picture handy. What leads you to 1995, Tom?

I think it was @Bianchigirll who said it was approximately 1995, but she was only estimating. And I could be remembering wrong.

1999 Bianchi Volpe - BikePedia

This matches the parts that were on my Volpe when I got it.

I have one that my brother gave me, he wasnt riding it anymore. I believe it would be from 99 seems right. It had RSX. I still have the frame and plan on rebuilding it someday.

@advicepig, yours does look the same as mine, but the 1999 specs show 8 speeds in the rear. Mine has 7. How many does yours have?

"Envy green," heh!

I think it was 7, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm still feeling like it's a 1999 due to color descriptions, but it does look a little more like the 1998 spec. I'm pretty sure it's a Nitto handlebar too. I'm running Ultegra 10 speed on there now.

Since we are including Touring bikes, here's mine.

Pic is not current. It has racks and fenders now.

Yes, its a CX bike.

But its being phased out in favor of adventure bikes which have a lower bottom bracket and are more tuned to all day riding than a CX bike. And they can take wider tires, too.

The Super Sports DBX isn't really a CX bike because at the time disc brakes weren't legal on CX bikes; rather its a country/adventure bike and its more of a sibling to the Salsa Vaya and similar bikes in that category.

The Super Sport DBX came out in 2006. A couple of years later, every one started coming out with their own country/adventure/gravel grinder road bikes.

Schwinn defined the bike before the trend. Its NOT a CX bike but its a very nice general all-round bike. It will never win a prize for speed but it does nearly everything asked of it and more.

Here are my two CX commuter conversions. Add fenders and away you go.

2010 Kona Jake the Snake. Shown with winter tires. Will change them to CX Comps in the spring.

2012 All-City Nature Boy.
