Custom Hybrid Amateur Build
Hello, I've always been a lurker in forums to dig up other's insight and info. Wanna make a contribution and share this build and name drop parts as much as possible for other data hungry lurkers like myself.
It all started when I found this Look Huez replica frame for $270 on ebay due to scuffs. I thought it would make a nice and cheap pandemic project... turned out to be more expensive than I though (~$1200).
The one piece that held me back for months was the handlebar. I believe it is a Trifox replica, which I liked better because the originals come in fruity colors. I ordered 3 different time from Amazon to have them canceled after the estimated time of arrival expired. I was doubtful but desperate enough to try AliExpress and they came through with the goods in about 4-5 weeks. Anyway, heres the list of all the relevant parts I used which in the end paired up nicely.
Tannus Portal 700x28 airless tires
38mm 700c carbon wheelset w/ Novatec hubs
Sram X9 shifters 2x10
Sram Via GT 50/34 compact crankset
Sram GXP english bottom bracket
Sram X9 front derailleur 2 speed
Sram X9 rear derailleur 10 speed
Sram Apex road brake caliper set
Sram PG-1150 (11-32) 10 speed cassette
Giant Contact bar ends
Specialized carbon steerer tube plug
Origin8 Duo trigger convertible brake levers
FSA Integrated Headset Orbit C-40
Selle Royale Respiro RoyalGel saddle
Jagwire Road Shop brake and shifter kit
Ergon GX1 grips
Origin8 Arc bottle cages
Abloc Arrive water bottles

It's quite relaxed even with wide hand positions, though the frame is a tad small for me (56cm/6' tall)

Nice looking bike! Glad you turned that rear wheel around since the first "mock-up" picture!

'Wicked' is an overused description, but that bike looks Wicked!💯
It looks fast just posing for a pic on the pier.
What does it weigh?

The only "heavy" components are the Tannus tires and the super cushy saddle.

Under 20 lbs is very respectable. It starts to get really expensive to go significantly lighter.
