Silver X written on Ortlieb Bike Bag -- Should I Avoid?
I'm looking at a single bag that seems new but it has a small silver "X" written in marker, right in front of the Ortlieb logo on the front. On the back of the bag, on the hard plastic bracket on the bottom, there is another small "X" over the "Made in Germany."
Is this some kind of mark made by Ortlieb for a failed inspection? A marketing sample or promo item? Something else?

As advicepig mentioned, it's REI's way of marking products that have been returned. I would physically inspect to see what was wrong with the product for the previous person to return it.

Just a quick update -- both Ortlieb and the seller confirmed that it was an REI garage sale item. He wanted $90 for 1 Bike Packer Plus. Campmor has a 20% off sale where I ended up buying a pair for $167, free shipping. Thanks for the accurate and timely info!
