Biking and erectile Dysfunction
Hey!
My friend is suffering from erectile dysfunction. He thinks that it is because of seat.
Found some stuf to think about.
Biking and Erectile Dysfunction: A Real Risk?
Thoughts?
And what do you thinkg about Viagra? Is it safe to use it? Accroding to https://eddrugs2017.com/ there many bad side effects of using ED drugs.

If he thinks the bike is the problem, he should see a doctor right away.
The wrong saddle definitely can cause nerve problems, and he should take corrective action even sooner than seeing the doctor. Do not ride that saddle again. Change the saddle or get advice on positioning at the local bike shop. Maybe the saddle is too high or too far forward or back. Maybe the saddle tilt is bad.
Noseless saddles seem like a terrible idea, because the saddle won't serve to support the body's forward lean. This puts pressure on the hands and shoulders. If there is pain at the pubic bone, fix it, don't avoid it.
I had a problem with a saddle, though it wasn't ED. My problem's cause turned out to be a saddle that was too soft, oddly enough. Switching to a harder saddle fixed my problem and was not uncomfortable at all. Saddles with a cutout in the middle are great for some people. My doctor recommended it, but it turned out to be unnecessary for me.

Since it hasn't already been said: your friend would probably benefit from a professional bike fitting, preferably from someone that he feels comfortable discussing the problem explicitly. They'll walk him through adjustments and issues while on the bike on a trainer.

Yes, it's a risk. OTOH there's lots of warning: numbness and/or pain in the crotch and/or privates. Women are also susceptible. Cyclists only get ED when they ignore the warnings. My advice is to always have sex after a long ride. The correct saddle and saddle adjustment takes care of the problem completely.

Its Freakin HammerTime!!!
My junk goes to sleep early in the season from less riding. Around may, I'm ready to roll. CFB has good advice, have sex everytime you ride. That way you get to ride and then get rewarded for it. LOL

LET'S ROLL
Been riding regularly for about 8 years now. Have done a few 100 mile charity rides; no problems(so far).
On long rides I do feel some numbness coming on when I've been seated for a while. I just remind myself
to pedal standing for a while; back to normal.
One of my coworkers started taking the blue pill in his fifties. Works out all the time with weights, no cycling.
But smokes & drinks a lot.

Carefully select the appropriate saddle for your anatomy. If you can't avoid constant excess pressure on your perineum with your current saddle, find one that works better for you.

Sex is psychological. Are you definate it's the bike? Does your friend watch on-line porn? I've read that on-line porn is having a detrimental affect on the younger generation. The excitement when one is with a real girl cannot be matched as compared to the unrealistic expectations one gets from the instant gratification of on-line porn.
This advice may be good as it trains the brain for what to expect, pavlovian style.

I think Bob Dole said he uses viagra for his ED.
Don't think he rides much; due to his hand/arm issue.

You've gotta do something for fun if you can't ride a bike, I suppose.

And there is a lot of clinical evidence as well as anecdotal that cycling too much with the wrong saddle will cause temporary or permanent ED. Like other sexual matters, many people don't come out of the closet about it, though one of the editors of Bicycling Magazine made a big stir when he did so.
It comes from the saddle cutting off blood flow in the perineum and particularly blood flow to the nerves in the perineum, causing nerve damage there, which results in a loss of feeling. Feeling also causes exciitement. It's not just all in your head, also somewhere else.
To the gentle reader: If you get a numbie, male or female, change saddles immediately. Find one that doesn't do that, no matter how long you sit in the saddle. It doesn't have to be that way.
For the most part, cycling improves sex because it improves circulation. It's the sedentary who are more likely to develop ED than are cyclists. Viagra is not the same thing!

Never had the problem and I have over 100,000 miles on my butt. I've also had robotic surgery to remove a cancerous prostate. I lost some function, but not all. The Missus thinks the loss has taken me from being very annoying to normal.
If your "friend" is having a problem I'd suggest a Serfas Rx saddle. It's what was recommended to me after surgery and it helped dealing with the soreness after surgery. Peculiarly, after my surgery I've had a bit of an opposite reaction after I get off the bike. Don't know why. The wife doesn't complain. I just need to shower first-- and not a cold one.
As for ED drugs, I've read the contra-indications and am aware of them. Except for the dyspepsia, I've had no other problems. My wife, who works as a nurse in a urology clinic, says the dyspepsia complaint is common, particularly Cialis and I think that is because it lasts in your system for a few days.
Viagara seems like the most short-term of the medications. It seems to help a bit. My favorites are in the Staxyn/Levitra class of intermediate-time ED drugs. I don't get the acid stomach and those things work well for me. Each person is different so it might take time to find the right drug.
You posted the link regarding dangers. I read it, and found it was written by somebody with a "natural" agenda. Don't be fooled, those natural solutions still have some kind of drug in them to make them work.
I hope this helps.
Rick
