Shifter; Long Stroke

I have Giant Talon 3 29er. Hardtail.

When shifting from the small ring to the big ring I need to make a long firm stroke with my thumb. It 'seems' like the cable is too long.

At what level groupset(Deore) does one get short efficient clicks on the shifters.?? Or can I have the cable adjusted or shortened.??(preferred)

Front shifting works on the tension side of the chain, so it’ll always take more effort. If you’d try to do it with short strokes you’d need to push harder. Shortening the wire is unlikely to help. If the wire is too tight it’ll mess with the inner position of the derailer.
Only certain fix would be going to electronic shifting.

That's just how it works, regardless of component level. It is never going to have the short stroke of the right shifter, because of the different leverage ratio and amount of cable that has to be pulled to accomplish a front derailleur shift.

that's part of the reason many have moved to 1X, one less shifter to worry about.
Doesn't work for everyone, but for mtbs it works for me

Laughing quietly. My road bike doesn't have electronic shifting. Yet.

Thanks for the informative reply. Does the Shimano Deore have more efficient shifting in the lineup.?? Its honestly not a big deal to me. I'm contemplating upgrades to the bike.
