Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The fruits of my panic buying are coming in. I just got a crapload of cables, enough to recable two bikes completely (assuming they're not both Campy or Shimano), I can replace chains on all but the Canyon and that one's in the mail, and soon I'll have enough spare tires for 4 out of 5 bikes.

First shot received, a couple hours ago. No adverse reactions yet.

And just like that, I find another Schwinn Circuit with Sante kit, 90 miles away, for $350 less. In ROUGH shape. It would be quite a project.

It's pink. It's rusty. It appears to be complete.

Did I mention it's pink?

does it need the rider to have a power meter for this?

I had a pink Schwinn Prelude. My first "nice" bike. I never could get used to it, and sold it, only to find a midnight mauve one, here in Yucatan, a few months later. I used to ride 58cm and COULD NOT ride a 56. I now ride 60cm but can manage a 58

Note:
1. Anyone over 55 in Georgia can get a vaccine starting Monday. I might be over 55.
2. A day after my ride i am experiencing the same level of discomfort. Not much progress. I might ride on Sunday and see what happens. Maybe on Monday, the Doc can give me something to lessen the nerve pain while I heal (and ride).

Resume normal activities.

I'm leaning against it. Lot of rust, etc. And even if it's cheaper, it's STILL too small! I find it hard to believe they didn't make these things in 23". Funny how 22" sounds so much closer to 23" than 56cm to 58cm.

I came in 4th in the Crit on Zwift, out of 13 or more starters, but ended up second out of 2. Yeah, the guy I beat last week beat me by 0.505 seconds. In the middle of the race, it seemed like 5 riders in our lead group of 8 got flagged, and I assume they were all DQ'd.

Zero motivation to do much needed long ride on this chilly morning, which would have seemed enticingly warm a week ago. Maybe go food shopping first.

It got cold here too. The gang all decided for a late start at 9:30. I am on call and could only get coverage for 2 hours so I am guessing I will do half the ride with the group and the other half piecemeal/solo with frequent stops to put out fires. At least it's bright and sunny out.

I suffer that way, too. In the winter, it's like, "Hey! It's 25°, overcast, and 20 mph winds. Let's ride!" Now after some 60s, it's, "Crap! Only 45°! Screw that. Where's the remote control?"
